Succession & Exit Strategies for Private and Family Businesses
Course Type: Elective
Credits: 3
Instructor: T.J. Stacey Wong
This course describes how and why private and family businesses should plan for their succession & exit. Discussion includes the scope of developing such a plan, challenges internal and external to the company, the process of transitioning to new owners and investment planning for the sales proceeds. Actual case studies are used to show how these concepts were accomplished. This is an intermediate level class designed for a real estate licensee with at least several years of active sales experience. The attendee will come away with an appreciation of the value of a private or family business and how it affects the owner’s own buy and sell decisions regarding their primary residence.
