Course Type: Elective
Credits: 3
Instructor: Stacey T.J. Wong
Often, the owner of real estate is a trust or an estate. This course explores what they are, how they are administered and the challenges that any seasoned real estate licensee should be sensitive to. Beyond the legal structure of these entities, there are actual case study discussions on the issues facing trustees, personal representatives, beneficiaries as well as third-parties hoping to transact real estate with them. After a brief introduction to trusts & estates, this course will delve into the real-life challenges of managing a trust or estate including sibling rivalry, fights for control and litigation. The licensee is always advised to seek professional counsel when dealing with these type of entities.
